Signed vintage matte-finish sepia tone photograph, shows Charles A. Lindbergh in a half length portrait, 8 x 10 inch, signed and inscribed in black ink "To Jesse S. Butcher - with best wishes - Charles A. Lindbergh", attractively mounted (removable) for display in a passepartout (altogether 9,5 x 12 inch), with two pinholes and a small tear (0,5 inch) to the upper edge, a pinhole and a small tear (0,25 inch) to the lower edge, small creases to his left hip, and a few stains to the edges (covered by the passepartout) - in fine to good condition.

Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the son of Charles August Lindbergh, a lawyer, and Evangeline Lodge Land Lindbergh, a teacher. Lindbergh grew up in Little Falls, Minnesota, where he developed an early interest in aviation.
In 1922, Lindbergh enrolled in the United States Army Air Service's flying school and received his pilot's license in 1925. He worked as an airmail pilot before gaining international fame for his solo nonstop flight from New York to Paris on May 20-21, 1927. This 33.5-hour flight made Lindbergh the first person to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
Lindbergh's daring feat earned him the Medal of Honor, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the French Legion of Honour. He became a hero to millions around the world and was known as the "Lone Eagle." Lindbergh used his newfound fame to advance aviation technology and promote air travel.
Despite his accomplishments, Lindbergh faced personal and political controversies throughout his life. He became a controversial figure for his isolationist views and sympathy for Nazi Germany during World War II. Lindbergh also faced personal tragedies, including the kidnapping and murder of his infant son in 1932.
In his later years, Lindbergh focused on environmental conservation and writing. He passed away on August 26, 1974, in Maui, Hawaii. Charles Augustus Lindbergh's pioneering spirit and contributions to aviation continue to inspire generations of pilots and aviation enthusiasts around the world.
