Frédéric Joliot-Curie Autograph

Typed letter signed, one page, 8,25 x 10,5 inch, Paris, 31.10.1947, in French, on the letterhead of the committee commemorating the tenth anniversary of Lord Rutherford's death, to the Ambassador of Yugoslavia in Paris - inviting him to a solemn ceremony at the Sorbonne on 7.11.1947 at 9 p.m. in memory of Rutherford, and mentioning the attendance of Lady Rutherford, her grandchildren Miss Fowler and P. H. Fowler, as well as P. Savitch, Professor at the University of Belgrade, signed in blue ink "F. Joliot-Curie", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Frédéric Joliot-Curie as scientst (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with intersecting letter folds, and mild signs of age wear - in fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by the original envelope and invitation card.

   J'ai l'honneur, au nom du Comité d'organisation, de vous prier de bien vouloir assister à la séance solennelle qui se tiendra à la Sorbonne le 7 novembre 1947 à 21 heures, et au cours de laquelle un hommage sera rendu à la mémoire du grand physicien disparu il y a dix ans.
   Lady Rutherford et ses deux petits-enfants, Miss Fowler et M. P. H. Fowler ont tenu à venir à Paris à cette occasion et parmi les nombreux savants qui ont accepté de se joindre à nous, je tiens à vous mentionner M. P. SAVITCH, Professeur à l'Université de Belgrade.
   Je vous prie de croire, Excellence, à l'assurance de ma haute considération."

   On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I have the honour to ask you to attend the solemn session to be held at the Sorbonne on 7 November 1947 at 9 p.m., during which tribute will be paid to the memory of the great physicist who died ten years ago.
   Lady Rutherford and her two grandchildren, Miss Fowler and Mr P. H. Fowler, have made a point of coming to Paris for the occasion; among the many scientists who have agreed to join us, I would particularly mention Mr P. Savitch, Professor at the University of Belgrade.
   Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurance of my highest consideration."
