Campbell - Jefferson writes two days following the death of Vice President William King that the President (Pierce) had directed the Executive Departments be closed and requiring the wearing of mourning badges for ninety days & orders that the door of the War Department be draped for mourning, written and signed in black ink "Jefferson Davis", attractively mounted (removable) for display with a photograph, shows Jefferson Davis in a half length portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with mild intersecting letter folds and scattered very mild signs of wear - in fine condition.
