(1954 - 2013) Venezuelan politician who was the President of Venezuela from 1999 until his death in 2013
Chavez has carefully written the long poetic text to the verso of a drawing done by his son Hugo Rafael - the colourful pencil drawing representing Ezequiel Zamora, in uniform, standing in half length pose. The son has written to the lower border of the drawing the date, 3rd August 1991, and his name in his hand.
In parts (translation):
"It is Zamora who returns, my son. Son of premonitions, like the one of December 89 `The river water flows, hard, but not deep`.
You drew his hat, and his cap of village countryside General...The blue sea of his dreams of a free fatherland...And above all, you pushed to the highest the shining sun of Santa Ines, anouncing the inevitable victory...Your father can`t do less than scream with you and with Zamora who returns lofty with his words `All was really worth`."
Santa Ines: Chavez refers to the Battle of Santa Ines, a military confrontation occured on 9-10 December 1859 during the federal war between federal forces under General Ezequiel Zamora and conservative government of General Pedro Estanislao Ramos, with rebels victory. Located about 36 km southwest of Barina, being the state where Chavez was born and lived his youth.
