"You must know that I would like to have done a picture with you (A) old times sake (L) because you are a success! But, George, I might have been right for Mursdon [Murdstone], but Mursdon would not have been right for me. When I left pictures some 3 years ago I vowed never to go back accept for a grand part & also I promised 'Kit' Cornell to do nothing that might be in any way detrimental to my association with her, & I must bear in mind that Romeo Browning Morrell & Rosmer will gain nothing & perhaps loose something from Mursdon. You know George that the public is not concerned with acting-but larger sentiment-I know it too. Please George do a picture someday with a great part for me & you'll find me on the wing to you! Please explain to Mr. Selznick I bartered with him in a weak moment & he turned down my offer-thank God. I should have been sick if he had accepted, as I knew this was something I should not do. Ouida joins me in love & kisses to you."
