Autograph letter signed, two pages (both sides), 5 x 8 inch, Baden-Baden, 23.06.1863, in German, to an unnamed recipient - hoping to arrange a meeting and proposing to perform his opera `Feramors`*, written and signed in black ink "Ant. Rubinstein", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Anton Rubinstein in a chest-up portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with two horizontal letter folds and mild signs of wear to the edges - in fine to very fine condition.

Translated:
"Dear Sir:
Since I have come to know that you are not in Karlsruhe now but go there frequently I allow myself to ask when I could have the honour of presenting myself to you - I stay here for three weeks and would not like to depart without reaching this purpose.
Besides I would like to take the liberty to propose to you one of my works for a performance next winter. This would be my second opera `Feramors` which had been performed at Dresden with applause and has been taken on by other companies. / As far as I know the opera staff of your theater the opera is easy and the cast could also be filled easily. I care a lot to know that one of my works has been taken up at an institute of art whose director you are.
I do hope so much that you will not misinterpret the liberty I took to send you this letter although I do not know you.
