(1819-1880) German-born French composer, cellist and impresario of the Romantic period. He is remembered for his nearly 100 operettas of the 1850s to the 1870s, and his uncompleted opera The Tales of Hoffmann.
Autograph letter signed, one page, 5,5 x 8 inch, `Theatre des Bouffes Parisiens` stationery, Paris, "Monday" (n.y.), in French, to "mon cher maitre" - informing him of a change, written and signed in black ink "Jacques Offenbach", with intersecting letter folds and mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by a vintage photograph (unsigned), shows Jacques Offenbach in a chest-up portrait, 3 x 5 inch.
