Letter signed, 1 1/2 pages (both sides) - with blank integral sheet, 10 x 13,75 inch, Hanover (Germany), 3.09.1804, in French, to General Olivier Macoux Rivaud* - Bernadotte announces that "The Bremen Senate has accepted to make a loan of one million to the Hanover States ... please inform that I wish to have the first five hundred thousand paid in three weeks time ... Because we need money to grant the troops salaries..." (translated), signed by Jean Baptiste Bernadotte in black ink "J. Bernadotte", folded and attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a portrait picture of Jean Baptiste Bernadotte I in uniform (altogether 11,75 x 16,5 inch), with intersecting letter folds, two small tears to the lower edge, and blank integral sheet is partially split - in fine condition.
* General Olivier Macoux Rivaud (1766-1839) was a French infantry commander during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He served the Hanover States since 1803, and was later appointed commandant of the 2nd division in the Grande Armée under Bernadotte.
