Typed letter signed, one page, 8,25 x 11 Inch, `Herbert von Karajan - Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien` stationery, Vienna, 12.11.1949, in German, reply letter to Dr. Siegmund Skraup (Director of the Landestheater Darmstadt) - concerning a production in Salzburg, signed in dark ink, attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Karajan as conductor (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with intersecting letter folds, and very mild signs of age wear to the edges - in fine to very fine condition.

Vielen Dank für Ihre freundlichen Zeilen.
Wenn die Dinge noch beim alten wären, hätte ich sicher in der Angelegenheit vieles tun können. Leider ist durch verschiedene Umstände eine derartige Spaltung zwischen mir und der Festspieldirektion eingetreten, dass eine Empfehlung von mir wahrscheinlich gerade das Gegenteil von dem bewirken würde, was wir erreichen wollten.
Ich hoffe aber, dass trotzdem Sie die Möglichkeit haben, Ihren Wunsch nach einer Inszenierung in Salzburg bald erfüllt zu sehen. [...]"
