Dempsey began his boxing career in 1914, fighting under the name "Kid Blackie," and quickly made a name for himself with his powerful punches and aggressive fighting style. His first major milestone came in 1919 when he won the World Heavyweight Championship title by defeating Jess Willard in a brutal bout that lasted 26 rounds.
