Description
Autograph letter signed, one page, 7 x 5,25 inch - affixed on a slightly larger sheet, Merton Surry, 31.10.1801, to an unidentified correspondent - Horatio Nelson is asking for the support of his friend Sir Thomas Trowbridge* in his candidacy to represent the Borough of Yarmouth, written and signed (with his titles) in black ink "Nelson & Bronte", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a picture, shows Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson in a beautiful chest-up portrait in uniform (altogether 11,75 x 16,5 inch), with age toning, stains (from wax seal), a small area of paper loss to the upper right corner, and a partly torn horizontal letter fold - in fine to good condition.

I am presuming on the honor which I have in being a Norfolk man to solicit your influence in favor of my gallant friend Sir Thomas Trowbridge who means to offer himself as a candidate to represent the Borough of Yarmouth. If you grant me this favor it will ever lay under an obligation.
