Description
Printed poem signed, 8 x 5,75 inch, in German, the poem's content addresses memories of youth and changes over time, signed in pencil "Herzlich grüsst - H. Hesse", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Hermann Hesse sitting in front of a bookshelf (altogether 8,25 x 11,75 inch), in very fine condition.
In parts:
"Jenes Licht, das einst in den Stuben
Unsrer Jugend am Abend so sanft gebrannt,
Ist nirgends mehr. Und die wir gekannt
Und geliebt als hübsche Mädchen und Buben,
Sind hingewelkt und in Gräbern vermodert.
[...]"
Translated:
"That light that once burned so gently in the rooms of our youth in the evenings,
Is nowhere to be found anymore. And those we knew
And loved as pretty girls and boys,
Have withered and rotted in their graves.
[...]"
