Signed vintage studio photograph, shows King George V. in a half length portrait in uniform, 4 x 5,5 inch - framed under glass to an overall size of 8 x 10,25 inch, signed and dated in dark ink to the lower photographer's mount "George R. I. - 1927", with silvering scattered mild signs of age wear - in fine to good condition.

Georg, King of Great Britain, was born on June 4, 1738, in London, England. He was the son of Frederick, Prince of Wales, and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. Georg became king in 1760 after the death of his grandfather, King George II.
As king, Georg faced many challenges, including dealing with the American Revolutionary War and the War of the Austrian Succession. He also had to navigate the political landscape of Europe, as well as internal conflicts within Britain.
Despite these challenges, Georg was known for his intelligence and diplomacy. He was a patron of the arts and sciences and was a strong supporter of education and culture. He was also a keen collector of art, amassing a large collection of paintings and artifacts during his reign.
In 1761, Georg married Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, with whom he had 15 children. Their marriage was a happy one, and they were devoted to each other until Charlotte's death in 1818.
Georg ruled for over 59 years, making him the longest-reigning monarch in British history until Queen Victoria surpassed his record in 1837. He died on January 29, 1820, at the age of 81, and was succeeded by his son, George IV.
Georg's legacy lives on in the many institutions and cultural landmarks he supported during his reign. He is remembered as a wise and compassionate ruler who left a lasting impact on British society.
