Johann "Hans" Hölzel was born in Vienna, Austria in February 1957. He was the son of industrialist Walter Hölzel and Maria Hölzel, a housewife. At the age of 16, Hans left school to pursue his interest in music, playing bass guitar in a local band. He quickly developed an interest in electronic music, and by the late 1970s, he had become a pioneer in the genre.
In 1978, Hans formed a new band, Kling Klang, which would become the foundation of his career as a musician. He released his first album, "Aquarium" in 1979, which quickly became a cult classic. In the early 1990s, Hans started to gain recognition for his work in electronica and ambient music. He released several albums in this style, including "Earthly Powers" and "Visions of Europe". He also collaborated with other influential musicians, such as Brian Eno and David Byrne.
