Otto Hahn Autograph

SKU: 8005621

Description

Typed letter signed, 1 1/2 pages (both sides), 8 x 11,5 inch, Göttingen, 2.03.1951, personal stationery, in German, reply letter to `Professor Dr. F. L. Breusch` (director of the Chemival Institute of the University of Istanbul) - inter alia concerning lectures in Istanbul, signed in dark ink "Otto Hahn", with intersecting letter folds, and mild signs of wear to the edges - in fine to very fine condition.

In parts:
"[...] Ich würde also am Donnerstag in Istanbul eintreffen. Sollte wegen der notwendigen anderen Visa sich eine Verzögerung der Abfahrt herausstellen, dann müsste ich die Abreise um 8 Tage verschieben. Ich weiss allerdings nicht, ob Sie bei Angabe meiner Vorträge die genauen Daten schon mitteilen müssen. Falls dies der Fall ist, glaube ich, wir riskieren es und nehmen an, dass ich am Donnerstag, den 12. April, in Istanbul eintreffe.

Als Themata schlage ich folgende vor:

1) Über die Auffindung der Zerspaltung des Urans.

2) Über die Auffüllung und Erweiterung des Periodischen Systems der Elemente.

3) Geologische Altersbestimmungen von Mineralien nach der Strontiummethode.

4) Die Emaniermethode, ein Kapitel angewandter Radiochemie.

Und der allgemeine Vortrag:

5) Die Energie der Atomkerne und ihre Nutzbarmachung. [...]"

Translation:
"[...] So I would arrive in Istanbul on Thursday. If there is a delay in departure because of the other visas required, I would have to postpone my departure by 8 days. However, I do not know whether you have to give the exact dates when you give my lectures. If that's the case, I think we'll risk it and assume I'll arrive in Istanbul on Thursday 12 April.
I suggest the following topics:
1) On finding the fission of uranium.
2) On the replenishment and expansion of the periodic table of the elements.
3) Geological dating of minerals using the strontium method.
4) The emanation method, a chapter of applied radiochemistry.
And the general lecture:
5) The energy of the atomic nucleus and its utilization."
