Autograph letter signed, three pages - on two adjoining sheets, 6 x 7,5 inch, 2.05.1917, in Italian, to Claudio Clausetti (1869-1943, director of `Casa Ricordi`), Toscanini regrets having to "give up the joy and the pleasure to witness the execution of the work of Busoni" (translated) about which he received a telegram announcing the imminent presentation of his work `Arlecchino* ovvero le finestre` capriccio teatrale in quattro quadri, written and signed in black, with a few small pinholes to the edges and a horizontal letter fold with a very small tear to the edge - in fine to very fine condition.
*Arlecchino (1917) is a musical capriccio, one-act opera, composed by Busoni during his volunteer exile in Zurich.
