Autograph letter signed, three pages (on two conjoined sheets), 5 x 8,25 inch, Séricourt, November 10th (no year), in French, to his collaborator Regnier - concerning private and proffesional matters, written and signed in dark ink "E. Scribe", with very mild signs of age wear - in nearly very fine condition.

"Mon cher collaborateur et ami
mon retour a la campagne m`a empeché de retourner vous voir et vos nouvelle fonction - ne vous ont peut-être queré permi de parler à nos enfants, à nous, enfants né avant votre mariage avec vaudeville - je compte rester ici jusqu`à la fin de novembre ou du moins jusqu au ? et si à cette époque vos occupations de directeur vous laissent une heure, une matinée j`irai causer avec vous du mariage et de celibat et nous finirons je l`espère par etablir honorablement cet enfant notre premier né [...]"

"My dear collaborator and friend
my return to the countryside prevented me from returning to see you and your new functions - perhaps only allowed you to speak to our children, to us, children born before your marriage with vaudeville - I intend to stay here until the end of November or at least until? and if at this time your occupations of director leave you an hour, a morning I will talk with you about marriage and celibacy and we will end up honorably establishing this child our first born [...]"
