Typed letter with autograph postscript signed, one page, 7,5 x 9,5 inch, `House of Commons` letterhead, London, 4.07.1963, reply letter to Miss Brett (one of her supporters) - concerning the national insurance scheme, signed and inscribed in blue ink "I am sorry I cannot do more. - kind regards - Yours sincerely - Margaret Thatcher", with intersecting letter folds - in fine to very fine condition. Accompanied by the original envelope.

"[...] I am sorry it is not possible to make any further improvement to your insurance record. I should explain that the national insurance scheme is contributory, and the granting of free credits is primarily a way of bridging gaps in the insurance records of people whose employment is interrupted because of sickness or unemployment. It is true that free credits are given to full-time students in certain circumstances, for example, if they are under age 18, or, as you are aware, if they undertook a course of training approved by the Minister which began before 2nd November 1953, provided 104 contributions had been paid or credited in the three years immediately preceding the course. [...]"
