Autograph letter signed, one page - on folded notepaper, 4,25 x 5 inch, in French, to an unnamed gentleman and friend - Maupassant begs off a planned trip because of a headache and fatigue, written and signed in black ink "Maupassant", attractively mounted with a portrait photograph of Guy de Maupassant and framed under glass for display (altogether 14,5 x 12,5 inch), with a mild horizontal fold, and signs of wear to the wooden frame - in fine to very fine condition.
"Mon cher ami,
Je me suis levé à une heure, et je rentre à cinq me repour. Je me sens trop migraineux pour faire une excursion demain. Recevez donc l`expression de tous mes regrets et présentez mes vives excuses à ces dames.
