وصف
Visually striking partly-printed document signed, one page, 16,75 x 12,25 inch, 1962, blind-embossed `Republica de Cuba - Ministerio de Industrias` stationery, in Spanish, certificate presented to Pedro Candelaria for being the most valued worker for the year 1961, signed in dark ink with his usual diminutive "che,", matted and framed to an overall size of 22,25 x 18,25 inch, with uniform toning, mild creases, moderate foxing, and edge wear - in nearly fine condition.
"Pedro Candelaria obrero de la Empresa consolidada de la Pintura Fabrica Nacional ha sido seleccionado como el mas destacado del Ano 1961 par su esfuerzo en el Incremento de la Produccion"
Translated:
"Pedro Candelaria, a worker from the consolidated Painting Company Fabrica Nacional, has been selected as the most outstanding of the year 1961 for his efforts in increasing production."
*Guevara was at the very top of Castro's government when this document was signed, serving as minister of industries and president of the Cuban National Bank. Despite his status, the activist in him disliked his official governmental duties, leading him to dismissively and diminutively sign documents such as this solely as 'Che.' For Guevara, it was his way of symbolically showing his distaste for class distinctions, even when it mean recognizing the working class.
