The 14th Dalai Lama, also known as Tenzin Gyatso, was born on July 6, 1935, in a small village in northeastern Tibet. He was recognized as the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama at the age of two and was enthroned as the spiritual and political leader of Tibet at the age of 15.
