Typed letter signed, one page, 7,25 x 10,5 inch, `Los Feliz Boulevard` letterhead, Hollywood, 15.08.1938, reply letter to Ann Murphy - Basil Rathbone thanks his correspondent "for your efforts on my behalf in regard to `Gone With The Wind`", signed in black ink "Basil Rathbone", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Basil Rathbone in a costume portrait as Sherlock Holmes (altogether 16,5 x 11,75 inch), with two horizontal letter folds - in nearly very fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
"Dear Mrs. Murphy:
Thank you for your charming letter, and for your efforts on my behalf in regard to `Gone With The Wind`. I appreciate most sincerely your interest and hope your efforts will bear fruit."
Basil Rathbone was Margaret Mitchell`s first choice to play Rhett Butler in the film version of her novel `Gone With The Wind`.
