Albert Anker Autograph

Autograph letter signed, three pages (on two conjoined sheets), 4,25 x 6,5 inch, Ins (Switzerland), 13.12.1900, in German, to Mrs. Speckert (probably Marie-Louise Speckert-Grindat portrayed by him), who wanted to buy a painting, written and signed in dark ink "Alb Anker", attractively mounted (removable) for fine display with a photograph, shows Albert Anker in a chest-up portrait (altogether 11,75 x 8,25 inch), with a horizontal letter fold and very mild signs of wear - in fine to very fine condition.

"Hochgeehrte Frau Speckert
Leider habe ich nichts Vorräthiges; es geht alles nach & nach fort & das Atelier ist gewöhnlich leer. Zudem habe ich Gemälde fertig zu bringen, die ich bald abliefern sollte; überhaupt sind mir Bestellungen gekommen, daß ich ein ganzes Jahr daran zu schaffen hätte. Zum Glück mag ich noch schaffen aber auch das Alter kommt; die Erfahrung hätte ich nun, aber die Kräfte & die Augen nehmen ab, und es kommen mit den Jahren allerlei Gebrechen, [...]"

"Dear Ms. Speckert
Unfortunately I have nothing in stock; everything goes on little by little & the studio is usually empty. In addition, I have paintings to finish that I should deliver soon; In general, I have received orders that I would have to work on it for a whole year.
